Man accused of sexual assault, DUI

A 37-year-old man allegedly ran into a car outside one Hutchinson apartment while driving intoxicated and sexually assaulted a woman at another apartment building on Sunday afternoon.
According to Hutchinson Police, Alejandro B. Garcia entered an apartment in the 900 block of Merrill Street Southwest at about 1:12 p.m., where he allegedly kissed and groped a woman and then refused to leave. The woman had been on the telephone and wasn’t aware Garcia was in the apartment.
Garcia left before police arrived, but they spotted him driving a 1992 Plymouth on Washington Avenue before he pulled into a parking lot outside an apartment building at 11 Glen St. N.W.
Police had received a report about 45 minutes earlier that a 1999 Oldsmobile had been struck there by a hit-and-run driver. Garcia’s car had light damage that matched moderate damage on the Oldsmobile.
Garcia has been charged by the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office with first-degree burglary, a felony, and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct, a gross misdemeanor. He also faces possible charges of driving under the influence, which is a third-degree charge for having a child in the car, driving after revocation and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
